Dierks Bentley’s ‘Home’ Inspired By Giffords Shooting

The tragedy of the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords ultimately is what inspired Dierks Bentley and his two buddies to write the single called “Home.” Giffords and 12 others were wounded, while six were killed last January. Bentley says the song “might have been in the back” of their minds but the incident got them moving on it. He says the song is “about the place we all call home, this country that we all are lucky enough to live in.” Bentley says the song is relevant to the hard times we’re going through now. But it’s also a song about “what we hopefully can accomplish again by coming together.”
