Sentencing
has been delayed for a man who pleaded guilty to stalking Shania Twain
as officials renewed concerns about his health. Giovanni (John) Palumbo,
a former Ottawa doctor, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a
court order and criminal harassment earlier this month. Palumbo, who has
been in custody in Toronto since March, recently completed a three-week
psychiatric assessment. Officials decided yesterday that they want the
doctor who assessed Palumbo to take the stand at a later date. The
defense wants Palumbo to be credited for time served while in custody.
They are also asking for Palumbo to be released on bail.
