After
giving an introduction and a little lesson in the cultural importance
of country music, President Obama welcomed a string of country stars to
the White House Monday night. Dierks Bentley kicked off the music with
his current single, “Home.” He told the crowd in the East Room and those
who were watching the concert as it streamed live that he was
dedicating “Home” to service members and their families. Some of the
other performers included Alison Krauss, Lyle Lovett, Kris
Kristofferson, Darius Rucker, James Taylor, The Band Perry, Lauren
Alaina and a new performer, a young woman who calls herself just Mickey.
The concert will air tonight on PBS.
