George
Jones, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney and Deana Carter were among the
stars shining Tuesday night in downtown Nashville, as Music City
celebrated its Grammy nominations at a lavish bash at the Loew’s
Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel. NARAS rolled out the red carpet for all of its
2012 Nashville nominees at the celeb-studded event, which included
artists from the worlds of country, Christian, bluegrass, blues, soul
and rock all mingling and celebrating the countdown to the 54th Annual
Grammy Awards on February 12th. Staged by the Nashville chapter of the
Recording Academy, the event consisted of a red carpet walk for the
nominees and a cocktail party in an adjacent room for music industry
figures. George Jones, who will receive a lifetime achievement Grammy,
strolled with his wife Nancy and his publicist in tow. Next up was Jason
Aldean, who was nominated for Best Solo Country Performance for “Dirt
Road Anthem” and, with Kelly Clarkson, for best Country Duo or Group
Performance for “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” Kenny Chesney was flanked by
songwriters Matraca Berg and Deana Carter. Chesney is also nominated for
Best Country Duo or Group Performance for his duet with Grace Potter on
“You and Tequila.” Berg and Carter wrote the song which is in the
running for Best Country Song. David Lee Murphy, nominated for Best
Country Song for “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not,” a hit for Thompson
Square, was also there.
