James Otto
-
James Otto started singing at the age of 4. He started playing
full time in bands following his military duty. Otto moved to Nashville
in 1998, where he went from living next door to a crack house to opening
for Shania Twain.
-
In 2002, Otto signed to Mercury Nashville Records. A failed
single, “The Ball,” was released in 2002, followed two years later by
“Days Of Our Lives.” Shortly before an album of the same name was
released, he joined Shania Twain on her 2003-2004 “Up! Tour.”
-
Otto left Mercury soon after the release of “Days of Our Lives”
and signed to Raybaw Records. He was featured on the track “Beast on
the Mic” on Cowboy Troy’s 2005 album “Loco Motive,” as well as the track
“Cruise Control” on Troy’s 2007 album, “Black in the Saddle.”
-
Otto notched his first No. 1 single in 2008 with “Just Got
Started Lovin’ You,” the lead single to his breakthrough second album,
“Sunset Man,” co-produced by John Rich. Otto’s second single from the
set, “For You,” reached the Top 40. It was followed by “These Are the
Good Ole Days.”
-
Otto’s “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” was the most played
country single of 2008. The track was nominated for a Grammy for Best
Male Country Vocal Performance. James was also an ACM Award winner in
the Song of the Year category as a co-writer for Jamey Johnson’s “In
Color” – a track that also earned him a Grammy nod for Best Country
Song. He was also nominated in the Top New Male Vocalist category at the
ACM Awards and in the New Artist of the Year category at the CMAs.
-
Otto released the album, “Shake What God Gave Ya,” in September
2010. The album holds the hits “Soldiers and Jesus” and “Groovy Little
Summer Song.” He is working on a new album now.
-
Otto co-wrote Zac Brown Band’s new hit, “No Hurry.” James is
also the co-writer of the ACM and CMA award-winning “In Color,” by Jamey
Johnson.
-
Otto has set up a number of 2012 tour dates. See him next February 18th in Silver Springs, Florida.
