Steel Magnolia
-
Steel Magnolia, made up of engaged couple Meghan Linsey and
Joshua Scott Jones, first made a name for themselves in the country
music scene by winning CMT’s “Can You Duet” reality competition show in
the fall of 2009.
-
After winning “Duet” they signed with Big Machine Records and
released their debut single, “Keep On Lovin’ You,” in August 2009. By
November the song became the highest charting single by a “Can You Duet”
act. A second single, “Just By Being You (Halo and Wings),” followed in
July 2010.
-
“Keep On Lovin’ You” is the lead single to the duo’s
self-titled EP, which came out in February 2010. It was also included in
the soundtrack to the film “Valentine’s Day.” They released their
self-titled debut album in January 2011. The album includes both the
first single from their EP as well as the singles “Just By Being You
(Halo and Wings)” and “Last Night Again.” They released the single
“Bulletproof” last August.
-
Steel Magnolia earned their first Academy of Country Music
Awards nod last year for Top New Vocal Duo as well as their first CMA
nomination for Group of the Year.

The March 24th Steel Magnolia show at Greeneville, Tennessee’s
Niswonger Performing Arts Center has been canceled, with the venue’s
director claiming a breakup is to blame. While it has not been confirmed
if the duo has broken up – personally or professionally – they are no
longer with Big Machine Records, the label said. It’s been a bumpy last
few months for Steel Magnolia, as Josh had to pull out of the Reba tour
in September to go to rehab. James Otto took his place on the trek,
performing his own hits and a few duets with Meghan. Less than a month
later, the singers reported Josh had kicked his addictions.
