Omni Hotels said it has reached a tentative deal with Nashville to build a $250 million, 800-room hotel next door to the Country Music Hall of Fame. In the deal, the city would give $103 million in sales tax revenues to Omni over 20 years, as well as $25 million in financing to offset land purchases. In addition, the city plans to give the firm a more than 60% discount on property taxes. Omni has agreed to fill 200 out of 300 permanent jobs with Davidson County residents and steer 20% of its construction contracts to small businesses or firms owned by disadvantaged groups. In addition, 20% of the construction would be handled by local companies. The hotel is expected to spur expansion of the Country Music Hall of Fame, which plans to grow from 140,000 square feet to 250,000 square feet.
